SOME FOOD FOR THE EYES + BRAIN
Peele Lemos, (interesting fact, his name reminds me of “peeling lemons”), is a brilliant designer/art director from Brazil. Again one of the things I especially love about the project TEN:15 is that it has introduced some really cool talent + portfolios. Lasting friendships, great images + a sense of balance in the world. Well, it’s been fun.
In any case, this more recent TEN:15 photo was submitted by Lemos yesterday, the subject is his scooter just before his commute to work. Super cute photo, the red scooter against the gray made me happy. His portfolio of work made me happier….
Lemos has a great sensibility and the personality comes out not only through his work and smart concepts, but also his comments. His personal projects are sweet, this one was developing a typeface he called “Layerz”. He had a great quote to explain why he undertook the challenge:
An Old man once said: “You don’t really become an art director until there is a typeface of your own. You can’t help it. Only the ones that can make their very own typeface and feel like giving birth to a new being becomes really an art- parents- director. And please kid, try hard to give it a nice name.” It kind of makes you feel obligated to work on your own typeface, to give birth to the perfect font that sums up everything, like something Comic Sans inspired (that was a bad typography joke for BFF Vince).
The rest of his stuff is great. He treats text like artwork and you can tell he loves what he does.
There are several movies on there as well. Again great concepts and execution. This is called “Handbook of the Hand” and was made for a Fiat promo. A different way to promote a car.
